Azari
indoor team denies Kavian victory
The
Hanger, Downsview, December 12, 2003 - Kavian's encounter
with the Azari indoor team resulted in a 2-1 defeat
today.
Against
the run of the play, Kavian scored first when Ardeshir
sent the ball into the Azari net in the early minutes
of the game. The Azari team took control of the game
from that point forward and put a lot of pressure
on Kavian. Taking advantage of their physical superiority,
the Azari team scored one goal in each half to deservedly
take the glory home. The score line could have been
much worse, if it wasn't for the safe hands of Kavian
goalkeeper, Steven whom once again proved to be in
excellent form.
Appearing
for Kavian in Orange were; Steven, Farhad, Farhoud,
Farid, Shahriyar, Majid, Hamed, Ardeshir, and Vahid.

Dear

fixture of our team and a great additions to our social
group.
This
past summer also saw Kavian F.C. appearing in its
new color, participating in its first official tournament

the best Toronto-based Iranian teams and was able

for communication among players.
Once
again, thanks to all of you for your great contribution
to this great summer season and I hope that we can
repeat this experience next year.

Kavian
smash Mississauga for 8
Mackenzie
Soccer Ground, Richmond Hill, Saturday October 4,
2003 - Kavian produced one of its best performances
of the season by 8-1 thrashing of Mississauga at Mackenzie
Soccer ground on Saturday.
Missing
to win the previous encounter with Mississauga due
to a late equalizer, Kavian appeared strong dominating
from start to finish, getting goals from 4 different
players to record the most decisive of victories.
Mississauga
goalkeeper did well to save a few powerful shots at
the early minutes of the game, but he was left helpless
ten minutes into the game when a defensive mistake
allowed Kavian to take a deserved lead.
Kavian
practically laid siege to the Mississauga goal in
the opening half with players squandering opportunities
before it ended with a 3-0 lead for Kavian. Mississauga
spent nearly the entire second period in their own
half, but Kavian pressure finally told as the resistance
of the Mississauga defense finally collapsed. The
floodgates opened and the ball went into the net 5
more times. Mississauga managed to get a consolidation
goal when a mistake by Kavian defense allowed a low
ball outside the box pass the goal line.
Kavian
could have added to the score but a few late opportunities
were cleared off by the Mississauga defense line.
Kavian's
lineup consisted of: Farhad, Farhoud, Hamed, Javad,
Farid, Ardeshir, Parham, Vahid, Mehrdad D, Shahriyar,
Majid

Kavian
heroically comes back from behind to level the score
with the strong Azari team
High
Tech Soccer Ground, Richmond Hill, Saturday August
23, 2003 - An exciting match with the strong and physical
Azari team was played today at the newly created soccer
facility at HighTech Road.
Kavian
appearing in its new orange jersey, enjoyed the services
of its regular players including; Farhoud, Pirooz,
Shahriar, Hamed, Javad, Sia M, Waldo, Ali Malek, Farid,
Farhad, and Ardeshir. Augmenting the team was the
new goalkeeper Jamal who appeared strong with a safe
pair of hands in the goal.
The
first 15 minutes of the game belonged to Kavian in
all aspects. An early goal by Ali M and another one
by Ardeshir saw Kavian to an early lead. However,
it was the visitors who eventually took control of
the game and scored 2 goals in the first half and
another 4 in the second half to change the scoreline
to 6-2.
And
as it was going to look like an embarrassing defeat
in the hands of the visitors, Kavian heroically made
a come back in the last 20 minutes of the game to
score 4 spectacular goals to level the score. Kavian
even came close to score the winner, but the tired
legs of its players and bad luck prevented the scoreline
from changing and at the whistle it remained 6-6 draw.
"They
had a very strong defense and controlled the middle
of the field very well. In the second half, we changed
our tactics and started to use the flanks and cross
the ball. That is what helped us to get the score",
said Farid, Kavian player.
